Big Chop… I DID ITTT!!!

I did it!
After thirty minutes of sitting in the salon chair holding my breath with one eye opened one closed, these were the results.

I am so excited about this new journey. Of course it is going to take some getting used to since this is the first time my hair has been this short. I personally prefer longer hair because it complements my face shape better but this hair cut feels so liberating. Not having to worry about two different hair textures is amazing. My curls do all the work. I apply my products and allow my hair to air dry and Wallaaa…

I have been playing around with different products to help control frizz. I have not found anything that I absolutely love just yet but for now I am sticking with Shea Moisture Curl enhancing smoothie and Shea Moisture Curl & Style Milk.

I have also been experimenting with different hairstyles. I am in love with the up do below. I gently pull my hair all the way to the top of my head and secure it with bobby pins. To add a little more glam I let a small section of my bangs flow down freely.

There is another big change coming soon. I am going to dye my hair brown. My natural hair color is dark brown. I dyed it black trying to get rid of a terrible red dye I had before. I don’t think black complements me very much so it’s time to change it.

To end this post let me just reiterate how liberating my big chop has been. As soon as all the straight ends were cut off I felt this huge weight lifted off my shoulders. My washing and styling process is much shorter and the biggest advantage is that my hair is free to curl on its own without needing much help.

If you are transitioning and thinking about the big chop GO FOR IT. In the end it will only benefit you. With good care it will grow back nice and healthy before you know it. Just like a band aid rip it off and move forward. I cannot emphasize enough how LIBERATING it is.
