A few weeks ago when Sun Kiss Alba announced her meet and greet at a Ricky’s (NYC) I jumped at the opportunity. She is one of the first YouTube beauty blogger I started following. Definitely worth meeting, she is very sweet.
When I arrived at Ricky’s the founder of Camille Rose Naturals hair line was offering free consultations and demonstrations. I had no intentions of stopping at her station but somehow I got pulled in.
When I spoke to the founder she recommended The Algae Renew deep conditioner ($16.99) and the Curl Love moisture milk ($13.99). I decided to give both a try.
Product:
Camille Rose Naturals Algae Renew Deep Conditioner

First 4 ingredients:
1) Deionized water
2) Aloe Vera Juice
3) Shea Butter
4)Coconut oil
The claim on the conditioner jar is that it works on all hair types. LIE!!
Review:
The conditioner did not work for my hair. It is very thick, which should have been a red flag (butters and heavy textures do not work on fine hair). I also have low porosity hair which makes it hard for my hair to absorb moisture this is why I do not use heavy products.
Detangling was a nightmare. My hair was not responding. I had to keep applying more of the product to somewhat untangle my hair. It felt like it wasn’t spreading or sticking to my hair. After just two uses more than half was gone. When I rinsed it out my hair felt heavy and coated.
* I even tried this conditioner on my sister who has much thicker hair. It did not do much for her hair either.
I DO NOT recommend this product.
BUT WAIT IT GETS BETTER
Product:
Camille Rose Naturals Curl Love moisture milk

First 4 ingredients:
1) Deionized water
2) Behentromonium methosulfate cetearly Alcohol
3)Avocado seed oil
4) Rice bran oil
Review:
It worked okay. The consistency is not as heavy. My hair was a bit more responsive, I was able to detangle but not as easily as when I use Miss Jessie’s leave in condish. It was also not as smooth or silky.
Once my hair dried the MAGIC happened. Absolutely no frizz, my hair looked hydrated with volume and bounce.
I would consider repurchasing this product.

No frizz is great but I wanted a bit more definition and so I tried one more product which everyone seems to rave about and Alba herself recommended.
Product:
Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker

First 4 ingredients:
1) Dionized water
2) Pectin
3) Coconut oil
4) Aloe Barbadersis leaf juice
Review:
This product I LOVE! It’s pretty much a gel but feels light. It even helped with untangling. It gives me prefect definition and bounce, no frizz, no crunch. It is divine.
I definitely recommend it.

My perfect combo is the leave in condish by Miss Jessie’s and the curl maker as my styling product.
Lesson: Todo lo que brilla no es oro. Do not fall for the hype. Take time to read reviews before purchasing a product. And most importantly pay attention to ingredients and consistency.
Hope this helps,

I haven’t tried any of the Camille Rose products yet. Haven’t seen too many of them here in the UK but am sure can order them online! This was a great review! They have a huge buzz around them with loads of endorsements from YouTube gurus! Interesting! Thanks xoxo
Thanks for reading doll. If you get to try them I’ve love to hear about your results.
Really great post, I love how honest you were! I’ve actually purchased the Camille Rose deep conditioner, and while it was okay I didn’t care for it much and it’s still sitting in my drawer lol. As for the moisture milk and the curl maker, they both sound great and I want to try them. You got awesome results and your hair looks gorg!
Thanks for sharing 🙂

Thanks for reading hun
LOL @ LIE but I am glad that at least 2 of the products worked for you.
Lol, nothing worst than buying expensive products and not getting good results. Thanks for reading doll =)
Awesome post! The only product I’ve used is the Camille Rose Naturals Aloe Whipped Butter Gel. It worked great on my Type 4 hair. I purchased two more jars. I found out about this product from Mahogany Curls who has beautiful curls. She is the only other person I know has used this product. I look forward to trying the Curl Love Moisture Milk and the Curl Maker. Thanks a bunch!

Thanks for reading hun. Hope these work for you as well ❤
I man’s poison is another man’s treasure. Camille Rose Algae Renew condis worked wonderful on my hair. I didn’t believe the hype until I tried it. Now, as the Monkees sang, I’m a believer!!!
Nice, I’m glad it worked for you =)
Happy Holidays
Hello, thanks for that review. Please tell me if you have tried miss jessie curly meringue and if so did you like or did it work for your hair. If so have you found any others product that are similar to that. Im am think of ordering the Camille Rose since your reviews. Thanks
Hi, thanks for reading. I have not tried curly meringue. But I do love Miss Jessie’s Leave-In Condish, it works wonders. I also use DevaCurl One Condition both as a conditioner and leave-in. And the last product I will recommend is Oyin Hair Dew Daily Hair Quenching Lotion (this product is extremely moisturizing and keeps my curls frizz-free for days). These are the products that work best for me (not all at once). Hope this helps =)
So I have natural curls but mine have never done great with the normal products! I would have to blur the lines of “white girl” products! I have had horror stories of cuts colors and the humidity wants me to look like a 70’s roller disco queen!!! But I have to tell you I for months months have used the Curl Maker along with a Pure Haven styling cream for my moisture and am in love! I actually tonight googled Camilla Rose and your blog came up. Your hair looked so beautiful I had to read. I myself was just looking at the other products wondering what could work for me. Thank you so much I’m confident I need to keep up on my supply of the Curl Maker
I am so glad you found products that work for you, I know how frustrating it can be. I still love the Curl Maker.
I recently started using a product line called “TGIN” which is stand for Thank God It’s Natural, it is amazing for moisture I will post a review on that soon.
Thank you so much for visiting my site.
~XOXO
Very helpfull review
Thanks 😊
I have dry scalp, damaged scalp, bad dandruff. I will not go natural because of my love for short hair. Im looking for hair and scalp treatment. I refuse to not color my grey, therefore my hair is fully maybe even over treated. I have decreased the treatment of my hair in the last couple months due to the damaged scalp.. what product do u recommend. Please respond to my email. Thank you
it seems like the big brand natural hair companies don’t do much for anyone’s texture
I’ve only had luck with Cantu and As I am line so far. My hair is thicker than a snicker and very ornery so I’ve only had great twist outs and such using small businesses’s products or make my own butters.
Lol @ thicker than a snicker… I am going to try the As I Am line next. I have heard wonders about it. My go to products that I know will always work are Miss Jessie’s Leave-in Condish and Jelly Soft Curls and also from the DevaCurl line the One Condition I use it as a styler along with the SuperCream. Have you tried these?
I tried these products but I have low porosity hair so the almond jai butter left my hair dry and almost looked like white stuff coating it. The revitalizing hair smother was more to my speed. I was surprised cause it really moisturized my freshly washed hair that even though many persons say looks healthy but is always when my hair us driest. I purchased the moisture milk and the aloe whipped butter gel but haven’t tired them as yet
Another favorite of mine is TGIN, the Honey Miracle Hair Mask, is amazing for obtaining moisture.
I GUESS SOME PRODUCTS NOT FOR EVERYONE’S HAIR IT MADE MY HAIR COME OUT I HAD SORES LIKE BUMPS MY HAIR LOOKS WORSE THAN IT DID BEFORE I USED THE PRODUCT!!!!!
Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that. I get how frustrating it can be, a few months ago I tried rice water for hair growth and it completely dried out my hair. It took a lot of deep conditioning and maintenance to recover my hairs health. Its trial and error, with all these products. These days I try my best to go for the most natural clean ingredients. I been deep conditioning with Shea Moisture Power Greens Reconstructor with Moringa and Avocado, this is one of the very few products that works for my hair from this line but I have been pleasantly surprised with how well it moisturizes my hair. Wish you all the best in your hair journey. ❤
