I love matte nails. I never really looked into it but when I ran into it at Duane Reade I was not about to walk past it lol. I found this Wet n Wild 407C Wild Shine matte top coat for only a dollar.
Because Wet n Wild isn’t the fanciest brand I didn’t have high expectations. But I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did it get the job done but it also dries very quick.
Here are the steps I took:
SOMEHOW THE LETTERS FADED OF THE WET N WILD POLISH BOTTLE
1. On clean nails I applied clear polish
2. Then I applied two coats of Essie over the edge which is a black metallic glittery tone
3. For the finishing touch I applied two layers of the Wet n Wild matte top coat
I ended up with a grayish metallic color. The matte allowed the metallic undertone to standout more.
The last two pictures are both after the matte top coat in different angles and lighting, its hard to capture the matte color, much more beautiful in person 😉
*It was not necessary to add two layers of the matte top coat it looked fabulous with just one but I wanted to see if it made a difference with two layers (it didn’t make much of a difference).
Moral of the story do not underestimate cheaper brands, sometimes they work just as good or even better than the big fancy brands.
PS. I tried this matte top coat with other brand nail polish and got the same fabulous results.
Hello pretties ❤
One way or another you ran into this page and so first I shall welcome you and introduce myself, I am Emily.
Rocking and loving my natural curly kinky hair has been quite a journey and many things have been learned and gained in the process. I love sharing my insight with those on the same journey. While natural hair care and beauty was the core that started this page so much more developed from it.
The best way to define myself and this page is a proud Afro-Latina of many virtues and interest. Creativity is really the root of it all; it drives my passion for fashion which in turn spiked my interest in sewing and exploring the fascinating world of a seamstress. “DIY projects” are my absolute favorite, from sewing to home decor to event designing, being able to visualize and create something from scratch and mere imagination is ultra-gratifying. On 2016 my sister and I started our dream business of event planning later adding a wide variation of handmade goods from aprons to custom party favors and much more. Our company name is Hannie's Decor. We choose the name as a way to commemorate my sister's beautiful babygirl who was born sleeping on July 2016. From such a pain surged a beautiful.
My prime goal is to inspire those who follow my journey. This is not an average hair/beauty/fashion page but rather a lifestyle page with personal life experiences advocating for self-love and acceptance, creativity (our minds are so unique, beautiful and capable of endless things if we just listen to it and follow our imagination), freedom/liberation of social norms and beauty standards, compassion and encouragement.
I hope my posts bring you joy and inspiration
Kind regards,
Emily ❤

Nice. I can not polish my own nails but you did a great job. This look is perfect for fall.
